What People Are saying:

My first experience at your lovely church was on Friends Day, and my sister &  felt so welcomed by many.  We were not able to stay for the bar-b -que, but appreciated the offer!  thank you       Kathy McGraw

I first came to Serrano Hills Church because my son wanted to attend the Youth Group with one of his school friends. Anytime a teenager wants to go to church I figure it's a good thing, so I agreed - but I thought I should go a few times, too. After all, I had no idea what this was all about. The first morning I came people smiled, said ‘Hello', and just let me soak it in. I sat in the back, listened to the music (which I immediately loved!) then waited to hate the sermon. Waited to hear the minister get up and preach about how all other religions are wrong, etc. And then this nice man stood up and said "Good morning, I'm Pastor Barry. Welcome to Serrano Hills Church!" And I sat there and listened to this interesting, intelligent, funny person speak about the challenges of raising kids; paying bills; dealing with former spouses; going to a job that's frustrating; spending enough quality time with your family - and trying not lose yourself! Heard him talk about trying to be a normal person in a crazy world. And reminding we're all OK - because God made us that way; no strings attached.   I remember coming to church every Sunday after that, sitting in the back, listening to Pastor Barry's message, tears streaming down my face most weeks, and people just smiled, said ‘Hello', and just let me soak it in.That was three years ago (the tear-streaming part has pretty much subsided!) And I come each week because if I don't I know I'll miss the great people, the chance to sing some great music, and the heartfelt message that keeps me in touch with God.    As the saying goes, it's a real place for real people to experience His real love. Our wonderful Pastor, Barry Marshall.  What I appreciate the most about Barry is his transparency on Sunday.  His messages are honest and revealing and they remind me that we are all in process.  Our earthly lives as believers are ones that will not be free from struggle, pain or loss but God is great even when life is not good!  We are a church family that knows struggle, pain and loss but we are a family who demonstrates the power of the Grace of our living Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ and He lives right here in the hearts of the men and women of Serrano Hills.  Come join us and be a part of the heart of God!    Donna Bares

My first wish was when my wife and I visited her grandparents in Ohio and went to church. Their congregation was close and they all cared about one another. Up until this time, neither of us had attended church much...hoping to find a church family like that of her grandparents. We received a flyer in the mail from Serrano Hills and have been attending ever since. That was over 9 years ago. We finally found home.    Don Bailey

We visited several churches before we found SHC.  We found the other churches unfriendly. SHC had EVERYTHING we were looking for...friendly people, great music and excellent sermons.   jody and lloyd

I love the messages because they really speak to my heart. Most Sundays I feel as if Barry is talking directly to me.

He speaks about things that are relevant in my life right now and how I can improve as a christian daily.   Cara Olsen

I still remember on my first visit to Serrano Hills Church, Barry, our pastor was wearing shorts and flip flops.  Since I was looking for a church interested in God and not so much the superficial things, this helped to make me feel right at home. Tawna Canhoto
